35+ STRONGEST Anime Characters of All Time! (RANKED)

most deadly anime characters of all time

Hello everyone! We have a surprise for you. We will be discussing the 37 Strongest Anime Main Characters in today’s blog!

But before I begin, I want to add that I will not be including any Bleach or Dragon Ball Z characters. I’m sorry, but I refuse to put this website at risk! Their fandoms are lovely; however, I will not start another war between their series. Also, what do I know? I’m no genius!

How can I possibly rank their OP characters? That would be disrespectful. I don’t have the intelligence nor the fair judgment that is required of me to rank Ichigo or Goku. I can’t. I am genuinely too scared to. You can’t force me!

Let’s get started before I hyperventilate from all that stress.

37) Tanya von Degurechaff from Saga of Tanya the Evil

Tanya

9/10
36/50

 Character Description:

This chick terrifies me man. When I first watched Youjo Senki: Saga of Tanya the Evil, I couldn’t sleep. Every now and then, I would look over at my sister and analyze her. I don’t want to eat dinner with a reincarnated sociopath.

I gave Tanya last place because I have no idea how much she will grow when she hits puberty. Bro, Tanya entered the Mages troops and became Second Lieutenant at the age of nine years old!

She is horrifying! I don’t want to come across her during battle. With her Gospel Magic and her physical strength enhanced by her supernatural powers is the simplified equation of the devil.

I know I’m being unfair with the rankings, but we haven’t seen her at her full potential. I won’t increase her position until I see what this girl is made of. End of story. Please don’t attack me, Tanya—you know I’m intimidated by you.

36) Ippo Makunouchi from Hajime no Ippo

 Character Description:

Look at this cutie! Ippo is a trainer and a professional featherweight boxer. This boy can get in the ring! Well, he’s not a boy—he’s actually 26 years old, but I’m sure you caught my drift.

When I tell you “Don’t fight this guy”, I’m not just hyping Ippo up. I mean it. Step away and run as far as your feet can take you.

Do you know Ippo has a 100% KO rate in his victories? 100%!!! You might as well KO yourself if you’re going to fight Ippo. Save yourself from humility and just give up.

Fun Fact in the Manga: During Ippo’s second retirement, he used body weights which drastically increased his strength. As if he couldn’t get any stronger (Hajime no Ippo Manga: Chapter 1280)!

Ippo ties with Sendo for the strongest punch in the entire featherweight division. Ippo’s muscular strength is off the charts. In terms of raw physical strength, Ippo is ranked in the top 10 of this list.

35) Naofumi Iwatani from The Rising of The Shield Hero

 Character Description:

Listen, I’m sure you have no idea why I included Naofumi in this list. He’s not as strong as Ippo, but man, his mental strength and will is insane.

Yes, Naofumi is severely depressed throughout the entire series. His dismay lasts far longer than just the end of season one. This is completely understandable after what the royals and public did to him.

But for him to keep pushing through against all the horrific, false rumors is so admirable that I had to include him in this blog.

If I lived his life, I’d call it quits. I’d give up and live in the forest by myself. Naofumi is truly a strong character—both in battle and in society

34) Tatsuya Shiba from The Irregular at Magic High School

 Character Description:

Allow me to humor you. Tatsuya’s nicknames are The Destroyer and God of Destruction (The Irregular at Magic High School Manga: Chapter 16). What do you think? Is he powerful?

Yes, he is. Maybe a bit too powerful. This guy’s tactical and analytical abilities are off the charts. Tatsuya is a genius. He is so smart that it makes me mad.

Not only is he brilliant, but he’s also quick. His speed and power are insane. He’s perfect. Now I’m mad again! That’s not fair. Why don’t you share some of that perfection Tatsuya? I really need it.

33) Sinbad from Magi: Adventure of Sinbad

sinbad

 Character Description:

Sinbad was powerful in the Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic. But man, he really showed his stuff in Magi: Adventure of Sinbad.

Like I knew he was strong, but this is crazy. He knows how to manage an army and can create complex and successful strategy plans!

Sinbad is also attractive, and he knows it! He uses everything and anything to get what he wants—and I mean anything.

32) Ken Kaneki from Tokyo Ghoul

Ken Kaneki

 Character Description:

I don’t want people to get mad at me. Hear me out. This list is based on the Anime characters, not the manga.

If I only were to judge Kaneki’s strength from the first season, you best believe I would have placed in the top 15. But I’m sure I’m not the only one that thought the fourth season wasn’t the studio’s best work. Even season 2 had a few plot holes that ticked me off.

Season 1 Kaneki is OP as heck though. That last episode? I died. And I wasn’t even fighting with him!

Kaneki is strong. And terrifyingly so. I’m sorry, but in my humble opinion, the anime as a whole failed to properly portray Kaneki’s true abilities. If we are talking about manga Kaneki, oh yeah. You better use the Joestar secret technique if you ever face him in battle.

31) Shigeo Kageyama from Mob Psycho 100 II

Shigeo Kageyama

 Character Description:

I love Shigeo Kageyama. He is an introverted, awkward little munchkin. I wish I attended the same school as him, because I want to be his friend. The tragic beauty of anime for us watchers is that no matter what we do, we can never comfort our favorite characters. Life is unfair. Unfair I tell you!

Anway, Shigeo is the man. He is a third-year middle schooler who is also a working Esper. I wouldn’t say he is legally working; I think enslaved fits his job description better.

When his emotional bar hits 100%, Shigeo goes ballistic (Mob Psycho 100 II Anime: Episode 13).

30) Koro-Sensei from Assassination Classroom

 Character Description:

Koro-sensei! Our favorite octopus teacher. What can I say? He showed the moon who’s boss. Koro-Sensei is powerful.

His nickname is The Reaper (Assassination Classroom Manga: Chapter 137).

But he wants to be killed. Why?! He really kept his strength on the down low in front of his students. There were some slip ups, but I wanted to see his true potential.

He can regenerate immediately, he is super-fast, and his offense is top notch.

29) Alucard from Hellsing Ultimate

 Character Description:

Watch Hellsing Ultimate. It’s a riot, and I mean that in the best way. Whenever Alucard looks like he is going to lose, it is always because he’s just messing around.

He has to try to lose if he wants to get killed. That alone says enough about his strength. Just look at the picture above. He’s a devil. Well, Alucard is a vampire. He’s arguably the strongest vampire in the series.

Alucard has enhanced durability and endurance, superhuman speed (duh, he is a vampire), and strength, and he’s also immortal.

He is the very definition of a nightmare.

28) Kusuo Saiki from The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.

 Character Description:

I know Saiki could do better. I feel it in my bones, man! If Saiki was shoved into a corner, it would be game over.

So, This Disastrous Life of Saiki K, give that to me. I want to see Saiki lose it. He can do anything! He flies, changes forms, reads other people’s thoughts and more! He’s done it all!

Please, please let me see and show us who’s boss. Come on! I’m not asking for a lot. Let me witness him at full power!

At least they gave me a taste of his powers when he faced that massive meteor heading towards Earth (The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. Anime: Season 3 Episode 6).

27) Natsu Dragneel from Fairy Tail

 Character Description:

Repeat after me: Natsu Dragneel from Fairy Tail is indomitable. He would rival and maybe win against the other people below this list—if only he wasn’t so stupid!

This dude has no common sense. I’ve never wanted to choke someone with a scarf so badly in my entire life. Don’t get me wrong, I adore Natsu. But he reminds me too much of my younger brothers, and I refuse to rank him any higher than this.

I know I have a job, but it won’t get the better of my pride—no matter how little there is left.

But when Natsu entered his Fire Dragon King Mode during his fight with Zeref (Fairy Tail Anime: Final Season Episode 17), I got excited.

26) Edward Newgate from One Piece

Edward Newgate

 Character Description:

Edward Newgate is literally the strongest man in the world in terms of the One Piece anime series. How can I not include him on this list?

Whitebeard is so strong! The mad lad has an actual hole in his chest (One Piece Anime: Episode 478) and still manages to have people shaking in their boots.

He was one of the few people that could give Pirate King Gol D. Roger a run for his money! I want money, but I sure as hell won’t fight him for it.

If I so much as looked at him the wrong way, I’m dead. You know, I have a mean uppercut, but I won’t flatter myself.

Whitebeard is the second-highest bounty in all of One Piece. Just let that sink in a little bit.

25) Eren Yeager from Attack on Titan

eren

 Character Description:

If we are talking about Eren as a Titan, he would be ranked a lot higher in this blog in terms of strength. But Eren as a human being is not as physically strong. Eren has had some weak moments as a human.

However, after reading the ending of Attack on Titan, I consider him to be a pinnacle of power.

I have never felt emptier and more shocked after finishing AoT. We see the complexities of humanity in Eren’s character clearer after his mother’s death (Attack on Titan Anime: Episode 1)

His determination gives me chills. This tragic man truly did whatever it took to achieve his goals. God, Isayama created a work of art that will forever remain as legend.

24) All Might or Yoshinori Yagi from My Hero Academia

all might

 Character Description:

I won’t forgive All Might for the immense burden he left on Deku’s shoulder. Now, All Might did his very best to train Deku physically. But did he help Deku exercise his mental capacity? I don’t hate All Might; however, I wish he realized Deku’s pain a lot sooner.

All Might was known as the Number 1 Pro Hero, which is incredible. He was the eighth holder of the One for All Quirk, to which he then passed it down to my beloved Deku.

He defeated All For One, who was the ultimate supervillain. He is called the Symbol of Peace. Despite my disapproval for some of his actions, it would be unfair of me not to recognize his immense power.

23) Zagred from Black Clover

zagred

10/10
42/50

 Character Description:

Grrr! I hate Zagred. But I have to give it to him, he can put up an evil fight. Yami needed help to just defend himself from Zagred.

To be fair, teachers in the Black Clover world didn’t teach their students about devils. When Yami encountered him, he was surprised by their existence.

His magic is literally manipulating his surroundings through his speech (Black Clover Manga: Chapter 196). He can also say physical objects by name, and they will appear—same thing goes for magical objects (Black Clover Manga: Chapter 197)!

Zagred uses Dice, Light, and Switching Magic. He is a monster. He even looks like what you would expect to see behind your back in the dark! Ew.

This is a heads up, but I won’t be mentioning any more Devils in this list from Black Clover. The manga, as of now, hasn’t shown their true potential just yet. I’m going to wait for that time to come because I know I’m in for a treat.

22) Deku from My Hero Academia

deku

 Character Description:

Why is Deku ranked higher than All Might!? All Might is Deku’s teacher! I know. Recently, Deku surpassed All Might in more ways than one (My Hero Academia Manga: Chapter 315).

God, I love Deku. He worked so hard as a Quirk-less, traumatized boy. Deku started from zero and became the hero.

Deku will get stronger as the series progresses—and not just as a protector. Hopefully, his mental health and emotional endurance will grow stronger. He has been through hell and back multiple times.

21) Asta from Black Clover

Asta

 Character Description:

This is the second stooge of this series—our lovable and kind Asta!

Asta is born without magic or mana, but he wants to become the Wizard King (Black Clover Anime: Episode 1). At the rate he is growing, I don’t think it’s impossible.

I won’t spoil you about Asta’s phenomenal powers. Hear me out: watch Black Clover. You won’t be disappointed. I promise.

20) Altair from Re: Creators

 Character Description:

This Military Uniform Princess is not waiting for her Prince Charming. Altair wants to destroy the world. Now, I don’t blame her. This world sucks. I hate everything about it.

But there are innocent people that don’t deserve to get smothered into smithereens. That was a tongue twister, wasn’t it? I almost had a stroke trying to write it.

She is so powerful that she was able to erase peoples’ existence.

19) Ross from Senyuu

ross

 Character Description:

Ross is a Royal Soldier who is in truth, the legendary hero Creasion. He is sent on a mission to defeat the Demon King.

This Demon King wants to take over the Earth—and it looks like that may be a possibility for him. Now, here’s a question for you: would you slap this powerful Demon King in any circumstance? I know I wouldn’t. But Ross would.

Ross is strong, but like most of the characters on this list, he isn’t showing his true powers. Why can’t these authors cut me some slack and show me what these characters are made of!

18) Yami from Black clover

yami
Power Skill Intelligence Total

43/50

 Character Description:

I’m going to let you in on a shameless secret of mine: I started watching Black Clover because I saw an edit of Yami fighting Licht.

But once I got past the first six episodes, I was hooked. You might be confused as to why Asta isn’t ranked a bit higher since he (SPOILER ALERT) can now take on his devil form.

I understand your bewilderment. However, keep in mind Yami is more experienced and skilled with combat. In one of the most recent episodes, Yami was (SPOILER) kidnapped only because he needed to protect his gang (Black Clover Anime: Episode 167).

Whenever Yami is faltering in battle, it’s because there are people around that need protection.

17) Gon Freecss from Hunter x Hunter

gon freecss
Power Skill Intelligence Total

 Character Description:

I don’t care what anyone says, Gon is an unstable monster. He isn’t this happy-go-lucky protagonist. And that’s what I love about Hunter x Hunter.

The intricate dynamic of Gon’s personality is fascinating. I hope that I can write a blog describing Gon’s psychology.

Gon’s mentality aside, he is powerful. Whatever he finds interesting, he will go to great lengths to learn more about it. In fact, he goes a lot farther than he should.

I don’t want curiosity to kill this cat. But man, at the pace he’s going — never mind, I don’t want to put that energy out in the universe.

16) Killua from Hunter x Hunter

killua
Power Skill Intelligence Total
18/20
18/20
9/10
44/50

 Character Description:

The reason why Killua is stronger than Gon, in my opinion, is because Killua is more levelheaded and calmer than him.

Killua has more experience than Gon, and he knows how to handle situations properly. I have heard people say Gon has more potential than Killua, but he hasn’t yet mastered it. I don’t agree with that.

If you watched closely, Killua unlocked some OP abilities that were dormant inside of his true power. For instance, he awakens God Speed during his battle with Menthuthuyoupi (Hunter x Hunter Anime: Episode 119). I’m sure there’s more to come.

But currently, Killua is superior to Gon. That may be a bold statement, but there is enough evidence to back that up.

15) Guts from Berserk

Guts
Power Skill Intelligence Total
18/20
18/20
9/10
44/50

 Character Description:

This is one character that I am scared to include on this list. I haven’t watched all of Berserk. Why? Well, quite frankly, the animation and plot terrified me. It’s so fantastic, but I’m about to reach a point in the story that will rip me to shreds. Therefore, I backed away from the series like the coward I am.

Please understand that anime and manga are very visual mediums. Nothing is sugar coated in there. Beserk’s plot is written so well that I felt like I was reading a biography.

Pretend Guts isn’t ranked 15. He could be placed anywhere in this list. I know he’s strong, but I don’t know how powerful he is in the latest episode.

However, I couldn’t not include Guts in this blog.

14) Ryo Asuka from Devilman Crybaby

 Character Description:

To be perfectly honest, I had to watch Devilman Crybaby a couple of times to understand what was actually happening.

The message of the Netflix original is realistically painful.

Anyway, Ryo is (SPOILER) Satan. I was shocked too. Doesn’t he look pure and innocent? I guess this is what people mean when they say don’t judge a book by it’s cover.

Ryo could destroy the planet in the blink of an eye if he wanted to. But I didn’t place him as high as most people might think. He’s Satan! Shouldn’t he at least be in the top 3?

Well, once you watch Devilman Crybaby, you’ll realize that Satan too has its own weaknesses.

13) Dio Brando from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure

Dio brando

 Character Description:

On top of being a vampire, he has an ability to stop time. His vampire skills helped him when he was fighting against Jotaro (Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Anime: 46-47).

Being a vampire, he can regenerate and control the vampires he made. Yeah, he makes vampires. It’s just a hobby.

The problem with most villains and antagonists in anime is that they are either extremely strong and stupid or extremely intelligent and weak. But Dio has the best of both worlds.

He is incredibly resourceful and smart—which makes him deadly.

12) Sukuna from jujutsu kaisen

Power Skill Intelligence Total

 Character Description:

Do you remember that one scene where Sukuna ripped his shirt off (Jujutsu Kaisen Anime: Episode 1 and 5)? Don’t pretend like you don’t know! Yeah, I couldn’t stop replaying that scene over and over again.

I replayed it so much that my mom thought I went crazy. It’s funny because I’m saying it like I’m completely sane.

Itadori hasn’t eaten all 20 fingers of Sukuna. I wonder how his body digests that. Isn’t it weird that Itadori swallows it? Well, I mean I wouldn’t want to chew on a finger, but I can’t figure out how he gets it to slide into stomach without barfing it back up.

Bottom line is: Sukuna will not show his true powers until all 20 fingers are consumed. This is only proving my insanity, but I can’t wait to see that happen.

11) Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen

Gojo
Power Skill Intelligence Total

 Character Description:

Wait a minute. Let me explain. Gojo is ranked higher on this list because Itadori hasn’t eaten enough fingers in the anime. Right now, season one is finished.

I think he’s eaten three or four fingers, but I’m not too sure. Itadori has been popping them like they’re tic tacs.

It’s been rumored that if Itadori eats 15 fingers, Gojo will lose to Sukuna. But as of the moment, Gojo and his Six Eyes are enough to put Sukuna in his place. But that’s only for now.

Fun fact: There is a girl named Sukuna Gojo in the K Project anime! No, Sukuna and Gojo are not her parents. They would try to kill each other before trying to get to know one another!

10) Madara Uchiha from Naruto Shippuden

 Character Description:

This is another character that I’m iffy talking about. This guy single-handedly took down the 5 Kage (Naruto Shippuden: Episode 323) along with their army by only using taijutsu.

It’s safe to say he has unrivaled strength. He is one of the most powerful shinobi in history as well as the strongest Uchiha in his lifetime.

9) Simon from Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

 Character Description:

Simon and Eren Jaeger from Attack on Titan are the only two characters I cry for whenever they are mentioned.

It rips me to shreds whenever I think about their stories. I’m actually tearing up right now! You guys might think I’m joking, but I’m not.

It’s not fair. Aw. Now I’m sad 🙁

Focus on the description girl. Okay. Sorry about that. Anyway, Simon is strong enough to destroy the world if wanted to. His spiral power is unmatched.

Near the end of the anime, he threw galaxies like they were confetti.

He deserves a happy ending.

 Character Description:

Bro, I couldn’t stand him when the Chimera Arc started. He looked like he could be out of a Dragon Ball Z remake.

His intelligence is unfathomable. We humans can’t comprehend his intellectual capacity.

And because he is so brilliant and powerful, he became the Chimera Ant King. He has immense pain tolerance, poison resistance, and his durability is incalculable.

Meruem’s Nen skills are something else. He has a power called Aura Synthesis which gives him strength after consuming a Nen User (Hunter x Hunter Manga: Chapter 217).

After he absorbed Menthuthuyoupi and Shaiapouf, he developed Metamorphosis—allowing him to gain wings!

Meruem also has Photon and Rage Blast Nen abilities which are disastrous attacks.

7) Nanika from Hunter x Hunter

nanika

46/50

 Character Description:

Nanika is a Dark Continent Creature that possessed Alluka Zoldyck (Hunter x Hunter Manga: Chapter 336), the sister of Killua. She petrifies me.

I thought Alluka was a boy because her family, except Killua, refers to her as ‘brother’. But that doesn’t shock me because the only one that spends time with Alluka is Killua.

Nanika’s innate power is granting one wish. If a person fulfills three of Alluka’s requests, Nanika will grant a person during her appearance with one wish. So, it doesn’t have to be the one who fulfilled the three requests for Alluka.

However, the tricker the wish granted, the harder the next three requests are. The three requests must be carried out by the next person Alluka makes requests to—so the person whose wish was granted isn’t expected to fulfill Alluka’s requests.

If Alluka’s requests are not completed, at least two people will die instantly either being wrung or squashed to death (Hunter x Hunter Manga: Chapter 322-323). The person that Alluka made the requests will die, as well as their loved one. There will also be additional deaths on top of those ones.
