Jujutsu Kaisen was undoubtedly the biggest hit of 2020. Last year had a pretty weak hand in anime releases, so this new-gen shonen really pumped up the game. Whether it was due to the wonderful characters with great voice acting behind them, or the unique universe with creative monsters, everyone seems to be a fan of this show.
In this list, I gathered the voice actors of the most influential characters to take a look at their other works and their background. I included both the Japanese and the English VAs with the regular English way of spelling names both for the actors and the characters.
Some of them didn’t get longer sentences for their summaries due to the lack of information about them, but make sure to dive into the world of voice acting while reading about the entries!
Table of Contents
Nobuyuki Hiyama / Landon McDonald (Eso)
Nobuyuki is a fitting pick for the lately introduced villain, Eso. He did a pretty good job figuring out a persona of voice for this enemy of the Jujutsu High but sadly didn’t get much screen time. His other works are worth checking out, especially his tremendous amount of Gundam appearances.
Landon worked on plenty of other media besides anime dubbing, but he is a big name here as well, most likely because of his role as Ranpo from Bungo Stray Dogs.
21. Yōko Hikasa / Tara Jayne Sands (Utahime Iori)
Yōko is not only a popular seiyuu, but she also has a great taste in fashion, and talent in both basketball and softball. She hosts the semi-popular weekly radio show Odoroki Sentai Momonoki Five.
Tara is currently a California resident, but her birthplace is in Connecticut. More interestingly, she appeared overall twenty times in the Pokemon series!
Aya Endo / Ryan Bartley (Shoko Ieiri)
A voice actor has to merge with their role to find the perfect harmony which could create a memorable act. The voice actors for Shoko must be taking their job seriously, as they are just as adorable as the character they are voicing. On the other hand, I hope their personal lives differ enough from this doctor’s. Both the Japanese and the English VA are beautiful women with many fantastic performances done before! Definitely worth checking out.
Mugihito / Kyle Hebert (Yoshinobu Gakuganji)
Mugihito, who actually has plenty of aliases like Makoto Terada, Tadashi Oomaeda, Mugihito Tenchi, is usually just referred to as Mugihito. He is 76 years old now, so he is old enough to play every old guy in anime ever. I’m sure you’ve heard his voice once at least, just didn’t notice that every old guy has the same VA.
Kyle Hebert has won many awards for being the best dubbing voice actor, but he also deserves the awards for being one of the best-looking bald guys out there. He has voiced characters like Aizen from Bleach and has an uncountable number of roles from the Dragon Ball series.
Marina Inoue / Laura Post (Mai Zenin)
Marina actually has plenty of great roles despite her unlucky appointment of Mai’s seiyuu. She turned out to be an unpopular character, but oh well, it wasn’t a surprise. Marina voiced Yaoyorozu from MHA and Yatogami from Date A Live.
Mitsuo Iwata / Chris Tergliafera (Kiyotaka Ijichi)
We can say that Mitsuo is an old-school VA, as he has voiced characters from the start of the 00s! He also looks wonderful, no one would ever guess that he is 54 years old now, huh. He also formed the singing duo Connect with another voice actor, Kenichi Suzumura.
Chris Tergliafera doesn’t only have the coolest sounding name ever, but he is also a very handsome man. Who would have thought that the taxi driver/advisor character from JJK could get VAs this overqualified for the job?
Chinatsu Akasaki / Allegra Clark (Kasumi Miwa)
Being one of the cutest seiyuus, Chinatsu also portrayed the cutest characters in all anime! She appeared as the VA in Little Witch Academia, Chuunibyou, DanMachi, High School DxD, and Shokugeki no Soma! Once again, she’s back with the very underrated role of Miwa, who’ll hopefully get some time to shine in the future again!
Takaya Kuroda / Keith Silverstein (Masamichi Yaga)
Taking the role of the director of Jujutsu High, Takaya is one to be feared. He is a real bad boy in real life, often going for a demon hunter or bike gang member look. It’s even more surprising that he is 56 years old as of now, and yet still keeping in the spirit for better and better works. But for the finale: his hobbies include cleaning and doing laundry.
Keith is actually Takaya’s wonderful English counterpart. He has the same aura and personality, spiced with billions of roles in dubbing anime!
Mikako Komatsu / Allegra Clark (Maki Zenin)
Mikako is a former idol from the group Imouto. She only stayed as a member for two years, but those were already very influential in her life. She is a massive fan of Mai Kuraki, a singer who performed many Detective Conan theme songs. Thus, Mikako is also a fan of Detective Conan, but sadly she couldn’t grab a role in that series just yet.
If you paid attention to the English VA’s on this list so far, you could notice Allegra’s name. That’s ’cause she voiced both Miwa and Maki in JJK. I’m not a dub watcher myself, but could you spot her two roles while watching? Let me tell you, there will be another one who voiced two characters as well.
Takahiro Sakurai / Lex Lang (Suguru Geto)
MAPPA has found a good one for the role of Geto this time! Takahiro has many nicknames, such as Sakupyon, Takapiro, Sakku, and Saku-chan. He likes scuba diving and hates spicy food. The place Takahiro would like to visit the most is the island group of Maldives! He has a lot of work behind his back, so a nice vacation there would be perfect for this VA.
Lex is not a new dude on the dubbing scene, so he has already made some memorable appearances in shows like Naruto and Yu Yu Hakusho.
Shigeru Chiba / Michael Sorich (Jogo)
Shigeru-san uses an alias for most of his work. His real name is Masaharu Maeda. He is not only a voice actor but a sound director too! The 67 years old man has put up plenty of work so far, but as you could already guess, he mostly did his fair share of work many years ago.
Atsuko Tanaka / Marie Westbrook (Hanami)
Creative characters often make a show. JJK certainly isn’t lacking in this department, as we have seen so far. Hanami is once again a popular figurehead of the bad guys, but voicing her must have been a fun ride. Come on, having your speech played back backward? Sounds awesome to do! Both the Japanese and the English VA have put up nice work this time.
Tomokazu Seki / Matthew David Rudd (Panda)
Tomokazu seems to like old-school anime, as he has plenty of roles behind his back in Doraemon, Digimon, Captain Tsubasa, and Detective Conan. He also made a fantastic job at voicing Panda, who became an iconic character.
Kōki Uchiyama / Xander Mobus (Toge Inumaki)
Having won awards for the best voice actor at the time, Kōki’s talent might seem wasted now that he voiced Toge, a character who only talks using fish names. But if you think about it, Kōki was the one who gave Toge the unique flavor that made many fans love him for it! He also had roles in major series like MHA portraying Tomura Shigaraki.
Xander is a pleasant guy with many minor roles in Japanese animation, but nothing big so far. He also voices Aoi Todo in JJK, but it’s hard to spot considering Toge doesn’t talk much himself.
Nobunaga Shimazaki / Lucien Dodge (Mahito)
If you’ve ever wondered what the VAs’ Japanese websites say about them, then I can spare some minutes for you that would be spent on using Google Translate. Every voice actor has skiing in their biography for some reason, but we can also attach being capable of voicing pretty boys to Nobunaga’s name. He claimed Haruka from Free!!, Yuki from Fruits Basket and Yuno from Black Clover for himself, but also has plenty of other wonderful performances in his bag.
Kenjiro Tsuda / David Vincent (Kento Nanami)
Once an old saying was created, that goes “powerful anime boys have to be voiced by powerful men”. Kenjiro was the perfect choice for the great character Nanami. He also voiced other based men like the oldest Mikoshiba from Free!!, the Creator and narrator from To Your Eternity, and Tatsu from the Way of The Househusband.
David has a hard time with this competition, but he does his best to bring out the essence of Nanami in the dub as well. He has many fantastic roles behind his back, a number that can only grow.
Subaru Kimura / Xander Mobus
The half German and half Japanese voice actor often makes appearances on these kinds of lists due to his versatile roles! You might know him as Tendou from Haikyuu or as Pah-chin from Tokyo Revengers. If those aren’t your types of shows, then check out his whopping 16 appearances in the Doraemon franchise!
Junichi Suwabe / Ray Chase (Ryomen Sukuna)
Now with Junichi-san, we have found ourselves a pretty big gun in the VA industry. He voices wonderful characters such as Yami Sukehiro from Black Clover and Shota Aizawa from My Hero Academia, Sirzechs Lucifer from High School DxD, and even Archer from Fate!
Ray’s actual last name is Chaifetz! If you’re a dub watcher, you might have heard his voice as every bad boy or bad guy. He voiced Gendo from NGE and Roswaal from Re;Zero!
Asami Seto / Anne Yatco
Asami Seto has had many roles over the course of her carrier, but perhaps her most notable appearance was as Mai Sakurajima from Bunny Girl Senpai. She herself said that she got addicted to karuta, a card game, due to the dubbing of Chihayafuru.
Yuma Uchida / Robbie Daymond
Yuma is a pretty big name in the VA community, having voiced Kyo Soma from Fruits Basket, Iori Kitahara from Grand Blue, and Ash Lynx from Banana Fish too. He is the younger brother of fellow seiyuu, Maaya Uchida.
Robbie Daymond might sound familiar for the dub watchers as Ryuudou from the Fate series, or as Chrollo Lucilfer from HxH. He also popped up as multiple characters of Boruto, and as the VA for the protagonist of Silent Voice.
Yuuichi Nakamura / Kaiji Tang
Yuuichi really doesn’t need any introductions. He is known for his many wonderful portrayals for more than a decade at this point. Perhaps his most known roles are Hawks from MHA, Kuro from Haikyuu, Oreki from Hyouka, and Tomoya from Clannad, but there is really an ocean of masterpieces behind his back. He also loves orange juice.
Kaiji took some roles in currently popular shows, but his biggest hit is Dazai from Bungo Stray Dogs. He also voiced the first Special Grade Cursed Spirit in JJK.
Junya Enoki / Adam McArthur
Junya hasn’t really had the opportunity to shine before getting the role of Yuuji in Jujutsu Kaisen. Sure, he had many jobs as a VA, but the big one has only recently made himself a name. He is the cousin of fellow seiyuu Chika Anzai.
Adam is really not a name in the anime VA industry yet, but he has plenty of works in his achievements bag for western animation.
There are for sure many interesting characters in Jujutsu Kaisen, but the voice actors are intriguing as well by themselves! Have you found anyone who captured your attention? Check out our other lists for more voice actors!
